Short answer: general pest control on the Gold Coast has no flat rate, a minimum call-out of $145 plus GST applies, and warranty length depends on the pest, 6 months for Australian cockroaches, 3 months for general pests like ants, rodents and wasps, and no warranty for spiders, silverfish, fleas and rodents since they move in and out from outside constantly. What pest control actually costs
Same as carpet cleaning, there is no flat rate. The size of the property, the pest involved and how established the problem is all change the job. A minimum call-out of $145 plus GST applies to every visit, and we give an estimate rather than a fixed quote over the phone, because an accurate figure needs an actual look at the property.
How long a treatment actually lasts
This is worth being straight about, because not every pest can realistically be warrantied. Australian cockroach treatments carry a 6 month warranty. General pests, ants, rodents, wasps and general cockroaches, carry a 3 month warranty. Spiders, silverfish, fleas and rodents do not carry a warranty at all. That is not us avoiding responsibility, it is honesty about how these pests behave, spiders and rodents in particular move in and out from surrounding bush, neighbouring properties and drainage constantly, and no treatment can promise a Gold Coast backyard will never see another spider.
What is most common in this climate
Cockroaches, both German and Australian, behave differently and need different approaches
Ants, especially after rain when nests flood
Spiders, including redbacks around outdoor furniture and sheds
Fleas, particularly where pets are present
Rodents, silverfish, wasps, midges, mosquitoes and vinegar flies round out the list
The Gold Coast's warm, humid climate keeps most of these active for more of the year than cooler parts of Australia see, which is why general pest control here is less seasonal than in a lot of the country.
